Origins and Formation

Helloween was formed by guitarist Michael Weikath and bassist Markus Grosskopf, initially coming together with drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg and singer Kai Hansen. The band’s early work was instrumental in pioneering the power metal genre, characterized by its blend of traditional heavy metal with more melodic elements and fantasy-themed lyrics. Their name, a nod to the Halloween season, reflects the band's affinity for dark, mythical themes.
