Origins and Formation

Cypress Hill, an American hip-hop group hailing from South Gate, California, has left an indelible mark on the music world with their unique blend of Latin influences and hardcore hip-hop. The group was formed in 1988 by brothers Senen "Sen Dog" Reyes and Ulpiano Sergio "Mellow Man Ace" Reyes, alongside Lawrence "DJ Muggs" Muggerud and Louis "B-Real" Freese. When Mellow Man Ace left to pursue a solo career, the trio of Sen Dog, B-Real, and DJ Muggs solidified the iconic lineup that would propel Cypress Hill to fame.
