Origins and Early Days

The Beastie Boys' origins can be traced back to the early 1980s, when the group initially formed as a punk band in New York City. Originally known as the Young Aborigines, the members—Mike D, MCA, and Ad-Rock—eventually transitioned to hip-hop. They adopted the name Beastie Boys, which stands for "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence."
