Early Years and Formation

AC/DC was formed by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. The band's name, inspired by the abbreviation for alternating current/direct current electricity, symbolized the raw energy and power they intended to bring to their music. Initially comprising lead guitarist Angus Young, rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, bassist Larry Van Kriedt, drummer Colin Burgess, and vocalist Dave Evans, the band quickly began making a name for themselves in the local Sydney music scene.
